One skill that was particularly difficult was mastering multiplication and division facts with enough speed to perform multi-digit multiplication problems or long division. Too often children lose their place as they refer to a multiplication table or other aid. As part of my master's thesis, I actually created flash cards with illustrated rhymes to help children remember their multiplication facts.
